With the Expert Base option, Régis is no longer limited to a few thousand characters: it indexes all your pages and documents, sorts content by topic and retrieves the right passage before answering.

## In detail

- Content is split into passages, vectorised by an embedding model hosted on our servers and stored in a European vector database
- Indexing runs in the background: you follow its progress from the interface
- Re-indexing on demand (website or document) without interrupting the bot

## Frequently asked questions

### How is it different from the standard knowledge base?

The standard base is a limited text (30,000 characters on Essential) sent with every answer. The Expert Base indexes your whole website and documents, and only sends the AI the passages relevant to the question.

### Which documents can I upload?

Text or PDF documents: guides, terms and conditions, product sheets, manuals. Their content is extracted and indexed like your pages.

### Are my documents sent to a third party?

Indexing (embeddings and search) runs on servers we host. Only the passages useful for an answer are sent to the AI model, in memory, without storage on its side.
